Beef Bulalo is a famous dish you can find in Tagaytay. If you have been there before, you probably have a memory of slurping the hot soup while enjoying the chilly weather in the area. It is best eaten with patis, calamansi, and a bit of chili for a touch of spice.

Cooking Beef Bulalo can take up to 4 hours if you’re boiling it in an ordinary pot. But with a pressure cooker, it will be ready in as early as 1 and a half hours if you have all the ingredients ready!

Ingredients:

  • 7-8 cups water
  • 1 ¼ kg beef shank
  • 1 pc onion, sliced
  • 1 tbsp peppercorn
  • 1 pc beef cube
  • 8 pcs Baguio beans
  • 1 pc corn, divided into 4
  • Salt, to taste
  • Cabbage leaves
  • Bok choy

Steps:

  1. In your pressure cooker, boil water, beef shank, onions, and peppercorn without sealing the cover.
  2. Once the mixture has boiled, stir in the beef cube, cover the pot, and pressure cook for 45 minutes.
  3. Release the pressure properly and add in the corn. Cook for a few minutes before adding the Baguio beans and salt.
  4. Boil for another 3 minutes and it’s done!
  5. Serve the Beef Bulalo in a bowl with the fresh cabbage and bok choy. Enjoy!

  • 1 whole green papaya, sliced
  • 1 bunch malunggay leaves
  • Cooking oil
  • 5 cups water

  • 1 1/2 chicken cube
  • 2 tbsp patis
  • Salt, to taste

  3. Transfer the mixture to your pressure cooker and add in the water, patis, and chicken cube. Place the cover and pressure cook for 10 minutes.
  4. Release the pressure before removing the cover. Add the papaya and boil for a few minutes.
  5. Add the malunggay leaves and cover the pressure cooker without turning it on. Set aside for a few minutes before serving with rice!
