4 Cocktails for Your Next House PartyJune 14, 2016
You are never going to run out of affordable home appliances in the Philippines; as a result, planning a house party does not take a gargantuan effort.
Blenders – in the common Filipino household – are used to make the occasional fruit shake whenever the weather gets too hot. However, do you know how else you can use this advantageous kitchen device to beat the perpetual heat in our beloved country?
Why, frozen cocktails, of course! Not the hors d’oeuvre kind of appetizer, but the alcoholic drink made up of several kinds of spirits, infused with some fresh fruit juice or cream. Sounds inviting? Then read on to see how you can utilize your blender to make the best party drinks!
Frozen Mudslide (1 serving)
What’s the adult version of a chocolate milkshake? The answer is frozen mudslide. It’s a party drink and a dessert at the same time. All you need to do to make one serving is blend together the following: eight ice cubs, two scoops of ice cream, an ounce of vodka, an ounce of Bailey’s Irish Cream, an ounce of Kahlua, and an ounce of chocolate syrup. Blend all of the mentioned ingredients until the concoction becomes smooth. Pour the mixture into a stemmed glass and then top it with a generous dollop of whipped cream. Enjoy!
Blue Lagoon Margarita (1 serving)
What is it with colorful drinks that seem to pull anyone in? The Blue Lagoon Margarita is one of those vibrant drinks that are perfect for house parties. To make a serving of this, mix all of these ingredients in a blender: one and a half ounce of tequila, three fourths ounce of blue curacao, a half ounce of pineapple juice, as much lemon lime soda as desired, and ice.
Kiwi Margarita (2-4 servings)
If you and your friends want that tropical party going, don’t forget to prepare a drink that will refresh you just as well as a dip in the ocean will – like Kiwi Margarita. To prepare this drink, throw these ingredients into your trusty blender: a half cup of sugar, a half cup of gold tequila, a half cup of silver tequila, a half cup of triple sec, one cup of fresh lemon juice (that will take about ten to twelve ripe lemons), a half cup of fresh lime juice (about six or seven ripe limes), 2 kiwis, and crushed ice. Blend all of them and pour the mixture into several glasses. To make it more exciting, garnish it with either a kiwi or lime wedge. You can also put salt in the rim of the glass if you want.
Cuban Mojito (1 Serving)
Cuban Mojito is a little treat from La Bodeguita del Medio in Havana, Cuba. If you’re throwing a party, regardless of the theme – because honestly, who cares if you provide this at a party that is not tropical themed – make sure to serve this to your guests. To enjoy a fresh glass of mojito, you’ll have to blend a teaspoon of powdered sugar, juice gathered from one lime, four mint leaves, a sprig of mint, two ounces of white rum, two ounces of club soda, and crushed ice.
What are you waiting for? Take out your trusty blender and invite your friends over now! Enjoy these wonderful beverages and please remember to always drink responsibly.
